It’s becoming more common to apply 3D printing in different spheres of our lives. The appearance of 3D printers is compared to inventing the usual printing, steam engine and transistor. It is impossible to evaluate now the scale of the 3D printing impact on everything, but every day it comes to new areas to stay.
In architecture 3D printing is initially used to design models of houses, buildings of different complexity including the infrastructure elements (streets, trees, lights, etc.). The printing process of one separate project may take from several minutes to several hours which in comparison with classic methods of modelling has undeniable advantages. The low price of the design together with the reduced time input is a great stimuli for architects and designers to implement 3D printing even more. The example of the successful 3D printing introduction in this sphere is the fact that it is applied in building and house construction in some countries. In China it was an implementation of the project during which 10 high-rise buildings were constructed with the help of 3D printing. In the end of 2017 Dubai is planning to end the construction of the skyscraper using a 3D technology. Unlike in other projects, here it is proposed to use the furniture and the interior elements created with 3D printing. According to the cost calculations, the price of the skyscraper construction will be 50-80% of the cost of using traditional methods of construction.
